Charles L. Long, 64, of Topeka passed away o on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at a Topeka Care facility. He was born July 25, 1939 in Greenfield, MO. He was born the son of Walter E and Cornelia K. Beard Long, Sr. He attended Topeka Public Schools where he played softball. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the Topeka Sanitation Dept as a driver for several years. He later owned and operated a cab for the Yellow Cab Co until he retired. He attended Asbury-Mount Olive United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman. He was well known in the community and loved. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. He married Barbara Ann Holt, she preceded him in death on July 28, 1944. He also was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Walter E. Long & Don H. Long. He leaves to mourn his passing, a son: Mondray A. Jefferson of Canyon City, CO. One brother: Winston E. Brown of Eldorado, KS. 4 sisters: Nava E. Long of Henderson, Nevada. Patricia "Patty" Oliver, Winona "Nonnie" Major, Kimberly "Napo" Franklin-El. A uncle and aunt, John T. and Mary Long. A granddaughter, Monique Wright, all of Topeka. A nephew, Anthony Brown and Joseph Wright of Iowa. Also a host of nieces and nephews. Cremation took place and private memorial services will be held at a later date.
