Charles L. Whetstone, 59, of Topeka, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, February 24, 2014. He was born November 2, 1954 in Dekalb, Texas, the son of Joseph Whetstone and Lottie Hunter. He had resided in Topeka since 1965. He was a welder for many years.
Charles married Teresa Whetstone. They later divorced. Survivors include his two daughters, Wandella Scott and LaVone Whetstone, five grandchildren, Hakim Andrews, Asha Battle, Michael DeLance Allen and Breanna Allen, his siblings, Lois Conway of Topeka, Wilma Hubbard of Topeka, Billie Whetstone of Killeen TX, Clyde Whetstone of Topeka, Bobby Whetstone of Naples, TX and Precious Crowder of Topeka and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Honesty Allen in 2005, one brother, Robert Luther Whetstone and two sisters, Josephine Clayton and Willie Young.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Charles will lie in state and the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
