Charles Eugene "Big C" McCarter passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at a Topeka hospital.
He was born June 28, 1954 in Topeka, the son of Arthur Marshall and Monica (Hurla) McCarter. Charlie graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1972.
He proudly ran a farm and McCarter Game Birds. He worked for Dolly Madison, Higgins Stone, Victory Sand, Randy Long Trucking, and Hank Hammer Concrete. He retired in June, 2019.
Charlie married Elizabeth Ann Zerbe on December 7, 1975. His wife of 47 years survives. Other survivors include his two children, Clint and Anna as well as 2 grandchildren, Ja'Vae and Jovahni; brothers, Jim (Marloyane); Joe (Darlene), Mike; and sisters, Dolores (Ed) Weekley, and Anna Mae (Steve) Lucas. Charlie was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Bill McCarter and Jerry McCarter; and sister, Mary Dewey.
Charlie loved his family and his farm animals, K.S.U. football, Western movies and Red Ford trucks.
A Celebration of Charlie's life will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the Auburn Community Center.
