Charles R. Isaacs, 81, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2009 at his home. He was born on December 21, 1927 in Bogard, Missouri, the son of Bert F. and Laveta Redding Isaacs. He served in the Army for 22 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He owned and operated Isaacs Garage in Pauline for over 20 years. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. Charles married Ingeborg "Inge" Lukaschek on April 1, 1949 in Frankfurt, Germany. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Angela J. (Michael) Byttner of Topeka, Charlie B. Isaacs of Commerce City, CO, Susan M. (Kenneth) Richards of Hoyt, six grandchildren, Michael, Kristine, Amanda, Jaycelle, Charles, Andrea, six great-grandchildren, his siblings, Elizabeth Meek, Ramon Isaacs and Mary Elliott. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark F. Isaacs, one brother, Cecil Isaacs and his parents. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Hope Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery where military honors will be presented by a burial detail from Fort Riley. Charles will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hope Lutheran Church, 2636 S.E.
