Charles Reed

Charles Franklin Reed, 70, Topeka, died at home Aug. 5, 2010. He was born in Topeka on Feb. 15, 1940 to Charles F. and Gertrude (Priest) Reed. He was a life long resident of Topeka. He served in the United States Navy.
Charles married Georgiann Poulignot on Oct. 5, 1985. They divorced but have remained close friends.

He is survived by Georgiann; one brother, Robert Reed, Topeka; three step-daughters, Kelly Turner (Tim), Crosby,TX, Kimberly Akins, Topeka, Kerry Alfrey (Joe), Hastings, NE; eight grandchildren, Toni Garefalos, Cody Garefalos, Ginny Winesett, Kristin Moore, Matthew Finch, Joey Alfrey, Keith Forshee and Mason Alfrey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; two half-sisters, Margaret Laswell and Marie Lattin; and a granddaughter, Georgeann Garefalos.

The memorial service will be held at Highland Park Southern Baptist Church, 820 SE 29th St. on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Military honors will be presented.
