Charles Frederick Stark, Sr., 78, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
He was born May 15, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Frederick Ovid and Thelma Lee (VanDyne) Stark. He was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School in Kansas City, KS and Kansas City Kansas Community College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War until being honorably discharged on May 6, 1965, achieving the rank of Private.
Charles was employed by Richardson’s Inc. and Shasta in Kansas City, KS and later for Whitaker Cable in Kansas City, KS until moving to Scranton, KS, where he worked at Essex Wire, Western Auto, Independent Electric and Dale Sharp Honda until retiring.
He was a member of JC’s Club in Bonner Springs, Kansas and volunteered for the Bonner Springs Sherriff’s Department.
Charles married Jeanette Marie Egdorf on July 12, 1967, in Falls City, Nebraska. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include his son, Charles Frederick Stark, Jr. “Chuck” and his wife, Melissa of Topeka; eight grandchildren, Talisha Marie (Ashton) Traphagan of Carbondale, KS, Charles Johnathan “C.J.” (Ashlee) Stark of Overbrook, KS, Aiden James “A.J.” Stark of Topeka, Dakota, Dalton, Caleb, Cheyann and Luke Bateman of Topeka; and six great grandchildren, Malaki and Maddox Traphagan, Allison, Morgan and Jayden Spencer and Liam Stark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Shirley Schenewerk and Jeannine Klein.
Charles loved spending time with family. He was a Chevy car enthusiast and was an avid KU Basketball fan.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS, where a Celebration of Life ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m.
