Charles James “Jim” Still, 77, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025.
He was born July 3, 1947, in Axtell, Kansas, the son of Roy N. and Charlene (Townsend) Still. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School.
Jim was employed by Bracket Stripping and Meinholdt Welding & Machine Shop in Topeka, until retiring.
Jim married Jeanie Creek on March 8, 1970 in Topeka. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include three daughters, Julie (Shane Wettengel) Still of Topeka, Mary Still of Topeka and Jaime Gallaway of Burlingame, KS; eleven grandchildren, Shalah Brown-Wettengel, Justin Iott-Still, Shawna (Richard) Rojas, Janae Still, Jaylen Wettengel, Joshua Still, Jacob Still, Adaysia Gallaway, Pixie Gallaway, Michael Gallaway and Abigail Gallaway; seven great-grandsons, Adrian Ratty, Kaiden Iott-Still, Oliver Still, Kody Shannon, Archer Rojas, Kendrick Iott-Still and Arlo Hill; two great-granddaughters, Dayana Luzyne and Juliana Selene; three brothers, Richard E. (Patricia) Still of Bahama, North Carolina, Roy A. (Bonnie) Still of Topeka, David L. (Susan) Still of Topeka; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim loved spending time with his family. He was an avid racing enthusiast, building and driving Mopar Stock Cars. He also enjoyed playing poker, reading Janet Evanovich novels, watching NASCAR and the Kansas City Chiefs.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., where the family will receive friends an hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas. The family requests those attending to wear their favorite racing or K.C. Chiefs attire.
The family will have an additional Celebration of Charles' Life from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Garfield Shelter House, 1600 NE Quincy Street, Topeka, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Janice Still to be designated later and sent in care of Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield Credit Union, 1010 SW Tyler St, Topeka, KS 66612.
