Charles R. Streeter, 70, of Topeka, passed on, Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at Midland Hospice House.
He was born May 20, 1936 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Clyde and Juanita Knox Streeter.
He served in the 3rd Infantry of the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1964. While stationed in Germany he met his wife, Inge Wirsing, and they were married November 19, 1960 in Schweinfurt, Germany.
He was a member of Carpenters Union Local #1445 for 40 years. He worked for numerous contractors during this time.
Charlie was an avid golfer. He was involved in dirt track racing many years. He loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Larry "Gus" Streeter. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Inge, daughter, Brenda Kelly and husband Lonnie, and son, Charles Streeter, Jr., both of Topeka, three grandsons, Kyle and Trevor Kelly, and Sturgis Streeter. Additional survivors include three brothers, Clyde Streeter and wife Judy, Bullhead City, AZ; Raymond Streeter and wife Linda, Ft. Myers, FL, Jim Streeter and wife Cindy, Topeka; three sisters, Edna Corn, Judy Baker, both of Carbondale; and Carol Disanti and husband John, Vineland, NJ; mother in law, Emma Thiel, brother in law Heinz Gunter Wirsing and wife Barbara, sister in laws Ursula Faber and husband Herbert, and Jane Tietze and husband Kurt, and a god son, Oliver Faber all of Schweinfurt, Germany, and 28 nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his dog Heidi.
Mr. Streeter will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family requests everyone dress casual.
