Charley P. "Arky" Suitt, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on October 3, 1921 in Lake Village, AR, the son of Tom and Minnie Mae White Suitt. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. Charley moved to Topeka in 1945 where he had resided since. He was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber for 22 years before retiring in 1973. He then owned and operated the Vinewood Dance Club with his wife. He was a life time member of the D.A.V. Charley married Florene A. McDonald on May 14, 1945 in Charleston, SC. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Michael P. Suitt and wife, Cheryl of Lawrence, Fred Suitt and partner, James of Topeka, one daughter, Becky Conley and husband, James of Topeka, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, two brothers, George Suitt of Pine Bluff, AR, Sam Suitt of Duncanville, TX, two sisters, Delma Pace and Lou Ann Suitt, both of Dallas, TX. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
