Chazwel "Chaz" Spencer Betts, 32, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
Chaz was born on Fathers Day, June 21, 1981 in Topeka, KS, the son of Wendell and Pamela (Johnson) Betts. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School and attended the University of Kansas.
Chaz was outgoing, caring, fun loving, and charismatic with a mega watt smile for everyone he encountered. He enjoyed soccer, tennis, basketball, fantasy football, tinkering with electronics and his dog, Kia.
Chaz loved life and surrounding himself with friends and family. He truly was a ray of sunshine who was known for doing it his way and making it work.
He will be forever cherished and respected for just being Chaz: kind, warm hearted and giving. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him as he was a unique and sparkling spirit that left us too soon.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Topeka.
Chaz is survived by his parents; two brothers, Brandt Nicholas Betts, Blake Skylar Betts; grandmother, Leslie M. Johnson, all of Topeka; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Moses and Lula Betts and maternal grandfather, Charles O. Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hope Lutheran Church, 2636 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka, KS 66605, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Topeka Cemetery.
