Cheryl Lynn Palmer of Auburn passed away with family by her side February 16, 2010 at Midland Hospice House after a courageous two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born September 13, 1947 in Ft. Dodge, IA the daughter of Mardelle F. and Delmar G. Spoering. She graduated from Highland Park High School and Clarks School of Business. She was a homemaker and worked for the Department of Agriculture, Fleming Companies and as a paraprofessional at Auburn Elementary School.
She married Dean Palmer January 7, 1967. She was preceded in death by her mother Mardelle Spoering and a brother Gerald G. Spoering. She is survived by her husband, Dean, two daughters, Kimberly (James) Walker and Robyn (Steve) Ditch; her father, Delmar Spoering; her grandchildren, McKenzie, Dylan and Tanner Walker and Alex, Emily and Austin Ditch; her brother, Dr. Craig (Kathy) Spoering, two nephews and many other beloved family and friends.
Cremation is planned. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday February 19, 2010 at Countryside United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
