Cheryl E. Mather, 77, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at a local care center.

She was born December 27, 1942 in Topeka, the daughter of Richard and Irma (Swan) Barnett. She graduated from Topeka High School.

Cheryl was united in marriage to Larry Mather on October 21, 1960. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. She and her husband owned Mather Flare Rental.

In 1989, Cheryl started CTCR, Inc. as a small traffic control company specializing in traffic control, signing, and temporary pavement striping. She was honored with Women-Owned Business of the Year by the Kansas Department of Transportation in 2006 and was a member of the North Topeka Business Association.

Cheryl enjoyed many pursuits in her lifetime. She was an avid golfer and tennis player and longtime member of the Shawnee Country Club and Wood Valley Racquet Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, family, and friends over the years with her favorite vacation destination being Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. A lover of animals, she was devoted to her schnauzers and the many cats she rescued.

While Cheryl lived a full and active life, her greatest passion was her family who will remember her as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Larry, daughters Toni Albright and Carrie (William) Kelly all of Topeka; grandchildren Renee (Nathan) Earwood, Travis (Samantha) Rogers, Taylor (Blake) Winkenwader, and Kyle Kelly; 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Tara Kelly.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Dove Southwest Chapel. Inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
