Chris B. Shrimplin, 50, of Carbondale, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 9, 2010. He was born November 24, 1959, in Asheville, NC the son of Jean W. and Shirley Shrimplin.
He graduated from Washburn Rural High School. After graduation he joined the United States Armed Forces as a member of the 82nd Air Borne in Fort Bragg, NC, and The Big Red One in Fort Riley, KS. He married Kelly Kavanaugh on July 14, 1979, in Topeka. Chris was owner/operator of Pro Welding Works and worked many years in the metal fabrication industry. He was a member of Light of the World Christian Center. He loved spending time with his family, he was an avid golfer, and loved the great outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and brother, Eugene Shrimplin. Chris is survived by his wife, Kelly; children, Brandy (Mark) Hopkins, Ryan Shrimplin; granddaughter Kellyn Shrimplin; father Jean; siblings, Jay Shrimplin, Davey Shrimplin, Helen Garcia, and Debbie Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday September 16, at Light of the World Christian Center, 3301 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66614. Cremation will follow. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Dove Cremation and Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th, Topeka, KS 66606.
