Chris Lee Vanatta

Chris L. VanAtta, 71, of Salina, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022.
He was born October 31, 1950, the son of Harold and Inez (Higgs) VanAtta.
He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1969. He later went on to further his education at Northern Oklahoma College.
Chris was employed by Hobby Lobby for 28 years, retiring in 2017. During his time at Hobby Lobby he was blessed to work with wonderful people and many became his friends.
Mr. VanAtta was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Topeka. For 38 years Chris enjoyed working beside his wife, Cathy teaching 1st Grade Sunday School Class.
Chris married Cathy Kay Martin on September 17, 1971 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2020.
Survivors include his son, Jason (Robin) VanAtta of Salina, KS; his grandson, Dane VanAtta of Salina, KS; his niece, Jessica Ray of Oklahoma City, OK; his nephew, Scott Lochridge of Cullen, AL and his sister-in-law, Linda (Gene) Lochridge of Ponchatoula, LA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Chris enjoyed spending time with his family and studying American History.
A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 25, 2022 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS 66604.
Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka, KS 66604.
Dove Cremations and Funerals – Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610 is assisting the family.
