Clanton Charles Cunningham III, 63, Topeka, died May 5, 2011. He was born July 28, 1947 in Independence, KS to Clanton Charles Cunningham Sr. and Elizabeth Luster Cunningham.
He graduated from East High in Wichita, KS in 1964. He married Rolanda "Bunny" Wesley on December 31, 1980 at Memphis, TN. He served in the US Army from 1964-1970 (Viet Nam era) and served in the US Navy from Sept. 1980 – 1997 (Persian Gulf Conflict) retiring after 23 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Church of God in Christ. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Rolanda; 4 daughters, Kyafia Lucas, Clarese "Reesy" Cunningham, Coretta "Corey" Cunningham, Chloe "Lil Bit" Cunningham; 16 grandchildren; 6 brothers, James, Jerry and David Cunningham, Donald "Jr." Parker Jr. Shawn Cunningham, MalcolmX Cunningham; and 5 sisters, Daisy and Lovely Cunningham, Denise Parker, Firby Anderson, and Karen Hood. He was married to Melva Price. From that union he had 1 son, Clanton Charles Cunningham, IV; and 2 daughters, Elizabeth and Shana Cunningham. All are surviving.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, D'Angela Denise Cunningham.
He will be sharing an eternal resting place with his daughter D'Angela at Calvary Cemetery, Independence, Kansas. A memorial service will be held graveside at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
