Clara Alice Kingen, 91, Overbrook, formerly of Russell, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2007.
She was born January 17, 1916, the daughter of Jess W. and Mary Rose Hummel.
Clara was a graduate of Brown Mackey School of Salina. She worked most of her life for Chet Roberts in the oil business.
She loved the Lord, her family, natures beauty and rock hunting with her late husband.
She married Homer Kingen in 1967. He died in 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Bobby Hummel. Survivors include two brothers, Jess W. Hummel II (Nenah Belle), Russell, James R. Hummel Sr, Henderson, NV; two nephews, Jess W. Hummel III (Terri), Broken Arrow, OK, James R. Hummel Jr., Topeka; two nieces, Jean Worden, Overbrook, Julie Moss (Frank), Kansas City, KS and their families.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the Russell, Kansas City Cemetery. Clara will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
