7. Background: She attended grade school and high school in Wilsey, Ks. After graduation from high
school, she moved to Oregon with her parents. Upon returning to Kansas, she went to Emporia State Teachers
College and then taught school for 16 years in Morris & Shawnee County. She and her husband moved from
Topeka to Richland, Ks. in 1966 where they operated a cafe. Due to the Clinton Lake project, they bought acreage
north of old Richland and developed what now is Richland Corner that at that time housed a cafe, barber shop and
a service station. After the death of her husband, she continued to operate the restaurant business until 1977 at
which time she moved back to Topeka. She worked for the State of Kansas, Department of Administration,
Central Motor Pool and was employed ther for 18 years until she retired on July 26, 1996. She was a member of
the Richland American Legion Auxillary. She attended Northland Christian Church and Topeka Bible Church.
