Claudia Rice Waters, 83, of Topeka, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011.
Claudia was born December 18, 1927, in Big Springs, TX, daughter of Lloyd and Ona (Rogers) Rice. She graduated from Ellsworth High School and Ottawa University. Claudia worked as an investigator for the Kansas Civil Rights Commission. She was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include her four sons, David (LoEtta) Waters, Topeka; Barry (Sharon) Waters, Topeka; Bart (Dawn) Waters, Topeka; and Charles (Carmen) Waters, Topeka; nine grandchildren, Michelle Phelan and Laura Waters, Raegon Matthews, Kristen Potekhen, Brady and Sierra Waters, Breanne, Avery, and Emma Waters; and one great-grandson, Samson Phelan.
Claudia's family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 Wanamaker Road, Topeka. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cotton-O'Neil Cancer Center, 1414 SW 8th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66606 or Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604.
