Clayton Henry Jenkins

Clayton "Clay" Henry Jenkins went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25th, 2019 while at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS.

He was born March 13, 1960 at the Saint Mary's Hospital in Emporia, KS, the first of twins, to LeRoy S. and Mary Lou (Rolfsmeyer) Jenkins.

Clayton was a graduate of Northern Heights High School, Allen, KS and attended one semester at Emporia State University.

He was confirmed in the Miller United Methodist Church in 1974 and became a member of the Emporia First United Methodist Church in 1987.

Clayton married Rene Rochelle Brunsilius of Belleville, Kansas on August 9th, 1980 at the First United Methodist Church of Osage City, Kansas. To this blessed union three daughters were born: Audra Rochelle, Auriel Chaé, and Aubrey Rene.

He worked at Modine Manufacturing of Emporia, KS from 1980-1994. From 1994 to present he has worked with Jenkins Farm and Hay as a farmer and rancher.

Clayton enjoyed being outdoors, and truly loved God's world. He was an excellent horseman and hunter, and taught his wife and daughters well. When it came to repairing or building anything for the house or farm, his knowledge and determination could not be matched. From car repairs to home projects, Clayton was always available to give advice or help to friends and family.

He was very knowledgeable about sports and loved sharing his expertise with his children and grandchildren. This love was inherited by two of his daughters who have gone into the Physical Education field. Clayton also loved to read to his children and grandchildren.

Clayton was active in the Lyon County 4-H program as a youth, and continued that legacy with his daughters and grandchildren for over 28 years. His daughters and grandchildren will always remember the knowledge and patience he taught them when raising and showing their animals.

He was a very busy man, especially during hay season, but he always found time to spend with his loved ones. Clayton was always proud to watch his children's and grandchildren's events which included various sports, theatre, and music performances. He also enjoyed a good western and was an avid Jayhawks basketball fan.

Clayton is survived by his wife Rene; three daughters, Audra (Anthony) Mercer, Auriel (Michael) Fox, and Aubrey Jenkins (Nolan Kehres); five grandchildren, Danielle, Theodore, Spencer, Kerstyn, and Layten. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister; brother Russ (Jeannie), sister Phyllis, brother Darrell, and twin brother Clint (Patty); brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Henry and Lela Rolfsmeyer, & LeRoy and Lettie Jenkins; parents LeRoy Jr. and Mary Lou Jenkins; and sister Nellie Jenkins.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southeast Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 4th 2019 at the First United Methodist Church of Emporia, KS.
