Clayton L. Burklund, 68, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Health-Care of Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Clayton was born on September 1, 1941 in Olsburg, the son of Martin and Alice Burklund.
He attended Kansas State University, and Highland Community College, receiving an Associate's Degree in Business.
Clayton worked for 37 years for AmVestors Financial Corp., later becoming Amerus Annuity Group, where he retired in December of 2005 as Director of Facilities and Human Resources.
He was an avid K-State fan, enjoyed golf, basketball, football, baseball, and coached youth sports for many years. He also enjoyed watching his grandson's activities, and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Civitan Club of Topeka.
Clayton married Nancy Mikesich on August 31, 1968. She survives. Other survivors include; his children, Brent and Michelle (Doug) Walker; grandchildren Ethan and Cameron, and a sister Mae Kirner.
Clayton was preceded in death by; a brother Roy Burklund and sisters; Maxine Porter, Ruby Rowe, Dorothy Cheek, and Dorrene Spires.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 2021 SW 29th Street, Topeka. Mr. Burklund will lay in repose after 3:00 PM, Monday, March 22, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka. The family will meet with friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Burial and committal services will be at the Bonner Springs Cemetery at Sheidley and Metropolitan following the funeral services.
