Clayton Newton Hedrick
Clayton N. Hedrick, 83, a native Topekan, passed away on March 9, 2007 at Midland Hospice House.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lois; their daughter, Carol; and granddaughters Amy and Sarah Watkins; son-in-law Michael Watkins; nieces Beverly Hughes and Rhonda Tevis; and nephews Clifford Hansel and Ronald Pease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Alice Hedrick; brothers Vernie, Glen and Donald; and sisters, Velma Megert, Erma Cook, and Esther Hansel.
Clayton served three years as a Navy Aviation Ordinanceman in World War II. He owned and operated Hedrick's Market, in the Highland Park area, and later joined the Dillon Stores Co. He had more than 44 years of service in the grocery business.
Clayton was a lifetime member of Orient Lodge No. 51, American Legion Post 400, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1650. He coached teams in the Topeka Girls Softball Association; youth bowlers at Gage Center Bowl; and volunteered for many years Stormont-Vail's Heart Comeback Squad.

March 16, 2007, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Mount Hope
Cemetery's Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street.
