Clement C. "Clem" Gibbs, 94, of Berryton, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. He was born April 4, 1924 in Topeka, the son of Frank and Georgia (Clement) Gibbs.
Clem was an Army Veteran during WWII. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Texas where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Clem owned and operated Gibbs Clothing Company until 1980. He was a member Grace Episcopal Cathedral and the Masonic Lodge.
Clem married JoAnn Steele on February 21, 1950 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2007. He was also preceded in death by two brothers in infancy and two sisters, Jean Ehly and Luci Vernon.
Survivors include their children, Kathy (Mike) Rumsey of Lenexa, Kansas, Debby (Tom) Pufahl of Berryton, Ted (Lois) Gibbs of San Antonio, Texas, Terry (Christine) Gibbs of San Antonio, Texas, Laura (Steve) Porter of Perry, Kansas, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-step-grandson.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 Grace Episcopal Cathedral. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Clem will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
