Clifford C. Oshel, 81, of Topeka, died Thursday, September 08, 2011. He was born November 20, 1929 in Topeka, the son of Boyd and Gwendolyn (Anno) Oshel.
Clifford was raised in Topeka and graduated from Seaman High School in 1947. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, he attended trade school and made his living as a plumber/pipefitter. He was a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union #441 and Church of the Brethren.
Clifford married Phyllis Smith on December 4, 1949 in Topeka. She survives. He is also survived by his children, Kathy Reynolds (John), Charla Kingery (Eldred), Lynnette Abbott (Gary), Brian Oshel (Debi), Johnathan Oshel (Misty); 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Oshel and Gene Oshel; sisters, Eva Phillips, Noreen Oldfield, and LaHoma DeKisser; grandson, Neil Jauken; and granddaughter, Sydney Clingan.
Per his wishes, Clifford's body was donated for medical research. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, September 11, at the family home, 1045 NE 35th St., Topeka, KS 66617. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Brethren or Camp Mt. Herman.
