Clifford Miller, 83, Topeka, passed away Friday, March 14, 2008 at a Topeka Hospital. He was born in Kansas City, MO on December 25, 1924, the son of Clifford and Della Mae Switzer Miller. Clifford's family moved to Topeka in 1929, which then became his lifetime home. Clifford was a Merchant Marine during WWII, serving from 1942 to 1946. He married Evelyn Sorrick in 1944; she preceded him in death in 1999. After the service he was a carpenter/millwright and continued his trade for 55 years. Clifford was active as a Boy Scout himself, and then served Scouting in many capacities for 15 years. Clifford had belonged to the Carpenter & Millwright Local 1445 for 56 years. He also belonged to the Men's Auxiliary VFW Post 1650, and the American Merchant Marine Veterans.
Clifford is survived by; two sons, Danny, his wife Terrie, and Kevin, his wife, Karla, Miller, both of Topeka, a sister, Sharon O'Leary, Japan, a grandson, Cory Miller, Topeka, a granddaughter, Alexis Miller, Texas; a great-grandson and great-granddaughter, plus several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 4010 SW 6th, Topeka, with burial to follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum, Topeka. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, March 17, 2008.
