Clifford N. Cormier, Sr., 73, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013.
He was born April 3, 1939 in Bat Cave, NC, the son of Thomas Ceril and Dorothy Cormier. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in Detroit, Michigan.
Clifford married Janice E. Corbett on February 21, 1960 in Topeka. He was an Air Force Veteran and a member of the Kansas Army National Guard. He obtained a Bachelor's degree from Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK. Clifford was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 26 years before retiring in 1980. He owned and operated Cormier Liquor Store. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janice, two children, Kim Hedstrom and Clifford Cormier Jr., both of Topeka, five grandchildren, Sterling Hedstrom, Clifford Cormier III, Steele Burgen, Kaleb Cormier, Trinity Cormier and two great-grandchildren, Harlo Burgen and Christian Cormier. He was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick Cormier.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery. Clifford will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel.
