Clyde Ward

Clyde E. Ward, 85, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2006.

Clyde was born July 28, 1920 in Chillocothe, Ohio, the son of Harold and Hazel (Peugh) Ward.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S.Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1946.

Clyde married Dorothy Ellen Jones on January 27, 1946 in Deleware, Ohio.

He worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 25 years, serving in Chillocothe, Ohio, Tucson, Arizona, Lompoc, California, retiring from Leavenworth, Kansas.

Clyde was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, most recently the Albert Neese Masonic Lodge #248 AF & AM, Tecumseh.

After retiring, he and Dorothy lived in Sarasota, Florida for 27 years where he enjoyed playing golf.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of 60 years; daughter, Ellen Pereira and husband, Gene, Shawnee Mission; son, Mark Ward and wife, Kathy, Topeka; grandchildren, Mark Ward, Paige Ward, Kevin Pereira and wife, Cary, Mark Pereira and wife, Bridget; great grandchildren, Jake Pereira, Tess Pereira, Cy Pereira, Joe Pereira and Ella Pereira.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
