Connie L. (Nelson) Kennedy

Connie "Stan" (Nelson) Kennedy, 69, Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Midland Hospice House.

Connie was born May 8, 1948 in Great Bend, the daughter of Howard and Mary (Jinks) Nelson. She graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1966 and from Washburn University with a degree in Accounting.

She was employed with Knoll Welding & Supply and then Westar Energy where she took early retirement. She went on to work for Falley's Inc. as an accounting clerk and then Wichita State University for the GEAR-UP program.

She enjoyed water skiing, shopping, spending time with family, walking (especially at Lake Shawnee), car rides, being outdoors, museums, traveling, especially San Diego, San Francisco & Denver. She liked Pepsi, sundaes at Baskin Robbins, double cheeseburgers at McDonalds, and M&M's. She played the piano for personal enjoyment. She was a former member of Toastmasters.

Connie married Tom Kennedy on August 5, 2006 outside of Atlanta, GA. He survives. Other survivors include brother, Doug (Deborah Hanes) Nelson, Centralia; sister, Sandee (Paul) Franz; step-son, Brian (Elizabeth) Kennedy; niece, Lisa (Matthew) Nelson-Miller; nephew, Micah (Margaret) Nelson; great-niece, Jessica Nelson; great-nephews, Korin & Liam Nelson; and great-great-nephew, Benjamin Ivans.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road.
