Connie L. Usery
April 8, 1958 — July 12, 2023
Connie Lynn Usery, 65, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, due to a long battle recovering from whipple surgery to remove a rare non-malignant pancreatic tumor. She received great care and support from many experienced and generous doctors, nurses and rehab staff.
Connie was born April 8, 1958, in Winfield, Kansas, the daughter of Loren W. (died 2003) and JoAnn (Keely) Kemp. She was a 1976 graduate of Pittsburg High School.
She was an office manager of Menninger's Community Service Office before becoming an early remote worker for health companies while living in FL, OK and KS, being recognized with various awards for success and longevity. She was currently employed by United Healthcare.
Connie and Steve Usery were married in 2000, in Jacksonville, Florida. He preceded her in death in 2015. Survivors include her mother, JoAnn Kemp of Topeka; her sister, Terri Bond (Duane) of Topeka; her nephew, Scott Bond; step-son, Dr. Shawn Usery (Blair); step-grandsons, Cooper, Parker and Chase; and her aunt, Sarah Setzkorn.
Connie was a happy, social person who made friends easily. She loved her family, friends, neighbors and her pets: horse, Prairie Princess and dogs, Max, Sabrina, Keely and Zvah.
A private spreading of Connie and Steve's ashes will be by family at a later date in Missouri. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
