Crystal L. Hill, 91, of Berryton, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. She was born January 1, 1929 in Hoxie, Kansas, the daughter of John Edward and Crystal Irene Christenberry. The family moved to Colony, Kansas and then Topeka in the early 1940's.

Crystal graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Stewart Beauty Academy. She operated a beauty shop out of her home in Richland for 30 years. She also was the baker at Shawnee Heights High School and performed maintenance for the school during the summer.

Crystal was a member of the Berryton Baptist Church, the Fidelity Chapter of the O.E.S. in Carbondale, the Riverside 4-H Club, the Promaters Square Dancing Club and was a charter member of the Wagoneers Camping Club where they spent time with lifelong friends who were a lot more like family. She and her husband loved camping and watersports and belonged to various camping clubs including the Sunchasers Camping Club, the Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas (AMOK) and were lifetime members of the National Campers and Hikers. In 1995, Bill and Crystal were elected the Kansas King and Queen of the National Campers and Hikers and went on to become the International King and Queen in 1996 at the rally in Texas where they spent many winters.

Crystal married Billy Max Hill on March 20, 1949 in Richland, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Delores Blankingship.

Survivors include two daughters, Trena (Donald) Klenklen of Overland Park, Kansas, Billie (Fred) Segrist of Berryton, four grandchildren, Amanda (Robert) Cross, Joel Payne, Wyatt (Tina) Segrist and Sarah (Ben) Sanders, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and her two brothers, Cecil Christenberry and Melbern Christenberry.

Crystal loved people but didn't want to be the center of attention. Honoring those wishes, there are no public memorial services planned. Private inurnment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Berryton Baptist Church, 6741 SE Berryton Rd., Berryton, Kansas 66409 or to Interim Hospice, 1251 SW Arrowhead Rd., Suite 103, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
