Curtis Gordon, 82, of Quenemo, Kansas, passed away March 1, 2016 at Brookside Manor in Overbrook, Kansas surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Frostproof, Georgia on July 27, 1934. He grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida and leaves many family members still there. He moved to Sun Valley, Nevada in 1967. He and three bothers helped to develop the Sun Valley community.
He never met a stranger. He made many friends. He loved animals. Curtis overcame many diversities being born deaf and legally blind, he learned the trade of auto body and turned it into an art. He was an avid hot rod fan. He owned many antique cars and always repaired his own vehicles. He moved to Baldwin City, Kansas to live with his daughters in 2001. He continued to work on cars even into his retirement.
He is survived by his daughters: Patricia Jackson, her husband Larry, and Debbi Austin; grandchildren: Marvin McWhorter III (Angie), Earl McWhorter, Kristina McWhorter, Felisha Searle (Travis), Darrell Green (Sarah), Desiray Erickson, Jesse Austin; 17 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Benjamin Story.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
His last days were very happy at Brookside Manor. His caretakers were very loving and cared for him extremely well. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
