Dale A. Fenton

Dale A. Fenton, 86, of Topeka, went home to the Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Colmery-O'Neil Veterans Medical Center. He was born on July 7, 1923 in Topeka, Kansas to William and Nellie Fenton.

Dale served as a U.S. Marine during WWII and received a Purple Heart after being wounded on Iwo Jima. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 44 years of employment. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving in many leadership roles. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Arab Shrine and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Betty and their children Nancy (David) Barron of Denver, CO; Babetta (David) Swanson of Chicago, IL; Ed (Peggy, deceased) Fenton of Topeka; and Kevin (Suzanne) Fenton of Tallahassee, FL; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30 at the First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight in the church parlor. Family inurnment will take place at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 3033 MacVicar, Topeka, KS 66611. Dove Cremation and Funeral Service is assisting with arrangements.
