Dale Dean Dickson, D.D.S., 76, of Topeka, passed away January 9, 2011 at McCrites Retirement Plaza. He was born in Lawrence, Kansas on May 30, 1935 to Ross Dale and Garnet (Silliman) Dickson. He moved to Topeka from Ohio as a young student, becoming an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Topeka High School and Washburn University. He married Bernice "Bunny" Collins on August 6, 1955. She survives. In 1962, he graduated from UMKC Dental School. After two years in the Air Force where he was stationed at Biloxi, MS, he returned to Topeka where he practiced dentistry for over 37 years. He and his wife Bunny retired to Lake of the Ozarks in late 2001.
Dale was a member of Alpha Delta fraternity at Washburn, past president of the Topeka District Dental Society, Topeka 20/30, Optimist Club and Grace Episcopal Cathedral in Topeka. He became a member of Rotary International and St. George Episcopal Church in Camdenton, MO. During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Dale and Bunny participated in the cleaning and rebuilding, with a group from the church.
Dale was a recreational pilot, an avid snow skier and boating, car, and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a loving husband, father and faithful friend. He is survived by his wife, of the home; a daughter, Darcy Dickson of Kansas City; a son, David Dickson and his wife Stacy and granddaughter Kelsey, all of Topeka; a sister, Martha Manning of Kansas City; and a brother Robert Dickson of Dallas, TX.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
