Daniel John "Danny" Krass, 83, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018.
He was born January 31, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Julia (Gdowski) Krass. He was a graduate of Lemont High School, Lemont, Illinois and attended Washburn University. He worked at the Topeka State Hospital for several years. He then worked for the Menninger Clinic Children's Hospital for 25 years and 4 years at the Menninger Clinic Adult Hospital. He retired in 1984. He also served in the Army Reserve.
Danny married Shirley E. Dewitt on March 5, 1955 in Manhattan, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 8, 2000. Survivors include three children, Christopher D. (Martha Hagedorn-Krass) Krass, Berryton, KS, Melanie (Mike) McPike, Topeka and Todd D. (Mary) Krass, Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren, Mason (Katie) McPike, Michael (Veronica) McPike, Jenifer Krass, Tiffany Krass, Ashley Krass, Robert Krass and Tyler Krass; five great-daughters, Haidyn, Addison, Ellie, Olivia and Avery McPike; and a sister, Barbara (Earl) Carver, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Henry Krass; and two sisters, Helen Krass Herman and Rita Kantowski.
Danny enjoyed spending time with family. He was an out-doorsman who enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, hunting and golf. He was also a life-long Chicago Bears and NASCAR fan.
Honoring Danny's request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at Mount Hope Cemetery and Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. Private inurnment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to favorite charity or Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 3715 SW 29th, Suite 100, Topeka, KS 66614.
