Daniel A. Potter, 71, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
He was born February 21, 1951, in Sterling, Kansas, the son of Rowan Boone and Helen Irene (Weaver) Potter. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1969 and attended Kansas State University.
Daniel was employed as a quarry truck driver, Quaker Oats as a production worker for 20 years, Blue Dot, and as a maintenance man at Mount Vernon Apartments.
Mr. Potter grew up in the Auburn Presbyterian Church where his father was a minister.
Daniel married Ruth H. Booth on September 2, 1986 in Topeka. She survives, along with their daughter Amy Shockey (Thom) of Topeka and their son Andrew Potter (Amy) of Topeka; grandchildren Samantha, Madison, Rylee, Natalie, Noelle; great-grandson Joel; his brother David (Pam) of Virginia and sisters Donna (Cliff) of Oklahoma and Sharilyn (Robert) of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Jim (survived by his wife Ardyce) of Auburn, KS.
Daniel enjoyed collecting and repairing antique stoves, old cars and attending car shows, watching sports, traveling, and spending time with family.
Daniel was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13th at Auburn Presbyterian Church, 1101 N. Washington Street in Auburn. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday, December 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. Interment of the cremated remains will be at Auburn Cemetery on SW Hodges Road in Auburn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Auburn Presbyterian Church 1101 N. Washington Street, Auburn, KS 66402.
