Daniel R. "Dan" McGinley, 59, Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 after a 3 year battle with cancer.
Dan was born February 13, 1955 in Dodge City, the son of William "Bill" and Wanda (Horner) McGinley. He graduated from Dodge City High School in 1973 and the University of Kansas in 1979 with a degree in Journalism. He also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Dan married Julie Schlesener on May 31, 1980 in Hope. She survives. Other survivors include daughter Megan (Peter) Toth, grandson, Noah Toth, Topeka; brothers, Scott (Marie) McGinley, Wichita, Mike (Traude) McGinley, Dubai. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rich and Tom McGinley.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was passionate about the Jayhawks and enjoyed watching KU sporting events with family and friends. He was currently employed as a sales agent with Prudential First Realtors and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m.
