Daniel Joseph Trevathan

Daniel Joseph "DJ" Trevathan, 39, of Topeka died of respiratory complications on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born on September 25, 1980 in Warminster, Pennsylvania.
As a child, DJ was adventurous and full of life. He was raised in Warminster, and spent his childhood at the Willow Grove Navy base housing, exploring the playgrounds and the woods with his little sister and friends. In 1992, his family moved from Warminster to Atoka, Tennessee, where he spent his teenage years. As a young adult, he served in the United States Army for 2 years.
Following his service with the Army, DJ was diagnosed with schizophrenia and moved to Kansas to receive medical care. DJ found community in several veterans' facilities in Kansas, and was able to live in his own house for 2 1/2 years surrounded by his friends in the RoseVilla residential community.
DJ is survived by his father, Kendall Trevathan of Kingston, Washington; his biological father, Daniel Dougherty of Pennsylvania; and his half-sister, Adrienne Stricker of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Matthewa Bouck.
Private graveside services will be held in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
