Daniel J. Werner, 48, of Topeka, passed away January 27, 2017. He was born to Elmer R. and Kathleen H. (McNally) Werner on July 19, 1968 in Topeka. He graduated from Topeka West High School in 1986 and the University of Kansas in 1991 with a degree in journalism. He worked in advertising in Chanute, Wichita and WIBW radio in Topeka. He has worked the past 10 years as a funeral director, first for Penwell Gabel Cemetery and the past 7 years managing Dove Cremation and Funeral Service.
Dan married Jennifer Vahsholtz Reynolds on November 21, 2012.
Dan is survived by his wife and three sons, Clayton , Cameron and Collin all of the home; four bonus children, Taylor, Michael, Katie and Ben; his mother, Kathleen Werner of Topeka; one brother, Mike Werner (Shelle) and their children, Braden and Peyton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer R. Werner.
Spending time with family and friends, enjoying his kids activities, watching movies and KU basketball, hiking and traveling, especially to the Rocky Mountains and Estes Park were all near and dear to his heart. His greatest love was for his wife and children. Everyone he knew experienced his incredible generosity and ability to comfort with just the right amount of humor and grace Dan was a member of the NFDA, KFDA, NRA and was a Friend of Bill W. for over 11 years.
The memorial mass will be held at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10:00AM. A Rosary followed by visitation will be held at the church on Friday, February 3 from 6-8:00PM.
Inurnment will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery following the service.
