Darel "Dj" Jost

Darel "DJ" Jost, 58, of Scranton passed away on April 30th, 2023. He was born on August 22nd, 1964 to David & Janet Jost in Burlington, New Jersey. DJ graduated from Burlington High School. Until his move to Kansas in 2004, DJ had lived in multiple states, including Florida & Wisconsin. In 2009, he married his wife Jennifer in Carbondale.
As a lifelong musician, DJ was a part of multiple bands in both Kansas and New Jersey. He played drums and was a talented vocalist. DJ was a member of four bands in Kansas, Hammerjunk, Steamroller, Paradox, and End Result. DJ was the drummer for Hammerjunk and lead vocalists for his other bands. He was everyone's favorite Rockstar. On the first Saturday of every month, DJ would host Papa D's karaoke at the Scranton Tavern. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the New York Rangers, New York Yankees, Duke Basketball, and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Preceding DJ in passing is his father. He leaves behind his wife of 14 years, Jennifer. DJ also leaves behind 8 children, Darel Jost Jr. (Ashley); Robert Jost (Marlana); Shane Jost; Kaitlyn Kuhlmeier; Madison Jost; Gary Perry all of New Jersey and Anthony Shelton; and Amanda Chancellor (Adam) of Kansas. His mother, Janet survives as well as six siblings, Wanda Throckmorton (Raymond); Linda Washington (Ron); David Jost (Adeline); Tracy Jost; Daniel Jost; and Dwain Jost. He will be remembered by 13 Grandchildren & his dog, Johnny Cash.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Celtic Fox, 118 SW 8TH Avenue, Topeka. KS, 66603 ATTN: Jam4Dan, to help fund scholarship opportunities for Shawnee County Youth. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
