Darlene Marie House passed from this world on January 5, 2017, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS. She was born September 30, 1944, at Nortonville, Kansas, to Celestine and Armella (Herbers) Schneider. She was the oldest girl in a family of 13 children.
Darlene retired from the U.S. Postal Service Western Area Supply Center in 1992. She also worked at Casey's General Store for 11 years, retiring from there in 2011.
On August 17, 1963, she married Johnnie House; they celebrated their 53rd anniversary in August 2016. He survives.
Also surviving are their children Brenda (Loren) Cox, Osage City; and Brian House, Topeka; grandchildren Caleb (Natalya) Cox, Branson, MO; Jacob Cox, Tulsa, OK; Jordan Cox (Ellen Murray), Madison, WI; and Savannah Cox, Louisville, KY; and her furry buddy, Twitter.
Others survivors include brothers Bob (Linda), Don and Dave (Rhonda) Schneider, all of Nortonville; Mike (Luanna) Schneider, Atchison; and Dennis Schneider, Topeka; sisters Marilyn (Glenn) Siebenmorgan, Hiawatha; Glenda Frye, Wichita; and Donna (Marty) Moranville, Westminster, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers C.J. Schneider, Jr. and Tom Schneider; and sisters Pauline Durkin and Alice Schneider (in infancy).
Services will be held at Berryton United Methodist Church on Wednesday, January 11 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation an hour before services. Funeral direction and cremation are being handled by Dove Cremation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission or Midland Hospice c/o the funeral home; or to Berryton United Methodist Church.
