Darlene L. Nieman, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at her residence. She was born on August 13, 1927 in Home, KS, the daughter of Carl and Emma Johnson Pape.
She resided in Marysville before moving to Topeka in 1995. Darlene graduated from Marysville High School in 1945 and was employed by Citizens State Bank as a teller for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka. Darlene married Merlin "Mert" Nieman on February 17, 1946 in Home. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2002.
Survivors include one daughter, Cathy (John) Osier of Topeka, three grandchildren; Tim (Stephanie), Mark (Heather), Christy (Art) Oczko, ten great-grandchildren; Tyler, Megan, Patty, Cooper, Mia, Macie, Ben, Zoe, Brandon and Owen.
Darlene will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where a service of prayer will follow at 6:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Marysville Cemetery.
