Darrell E. Ellis

Darrell Edward Ellis, 85, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018.

He was born June 22, 1932, in Marysville, Kansas, the son of Charles William and Dollie (Reynolds) Ellis. He was a graduate of Marysville High School. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan during Korean War.

Darrell was an insurance agent for Western and Southern Insurance Company, retiring in 1998.

He was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 400.

Darrell married Glenda M. Shepherd on July 28, 1957. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Deidre E. (Bill) Chinn, Topeka; five grandchildren, A.J., J.T., Bailey, Avery and Sidney Chinn; two brothers, Ron Ellis, Ozawkie and Guy (Kay) Ellis, Topeka; and two sisters, Stella Ellis, Topeka and Catherine (Bernie, Sr.) Runnebaum, Olathe.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sibling.
Darrell enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, fishing, and reading, especially history.

Honoring Darrell's request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post No. 400, 3029 US-24, Topeka, KS 66618.
