Darrell F. Moffet, 65, of Auburn, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on October 8, 1943 in Topeka, the son of Frederick A. and Mary Mae Kitchen Moffet. He was a Navy Seabee and Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. Darrell was employed by Essex Wire Company for 25 ½ years. He was a member of the Arab Shrine, Orient Lodge No. 51 AF&AM, the Lions Club, was an instructor for the American Red Cross and Hunters Safety classes. Darrell married Joyce M. Hubler on April 11, 2000 in DeQueen, Arkansas. She survives. Other survivors include one step-son, Clint (Michelle) Hubler, two grandchildren, Sierra and Bradley and his mother and step-father, Mary Mae and Delbert Tibbets. He was preceded in death by his father in 1967. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Shawnee Center Cemetery, Wakarusa, KS. Darrell will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
