David Lee Bargmann

October 2, 1948 — October 20, 2023

David Lee Bargmann, 75, of Topeka, passed away Friday, October 20, 2023.

He was born October 2, 1948, in Marysville, Kansas, the son of Leonard and Reita Bargmann. He attended Lutheran School, Grades 1-8, in a one-room schoolhouse in Herkimer, Kansas. He attended Marysville High School. After High School graduation, he served in the United States Navy.

David was employed by All City Appliance and other electronic service companies in the Topeka area.

Mr. Bargmann was a member of the VFW of Topeka.

David married Reeta Anne Kinney on June 25, 1993, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include his kids Eli Bargmann, Dan Jones, Kim Jones, Elizabeth Sullivan, John Sullivan, Renee Sullivan, and Adrian Rees; his grandchildren Evan Rees, Asher Sullivan, Naomi Sullivan, and Oren Sullivan, and his great-grandchild Ronin Jones. Mother, Mrs. Leonard Bargmann, Sister and Brother-In-Law, Denis and Diane Schroller, Newphew Doug Schroller, and four Grandnephews and two Grandneices survive. Brother, Sister-In-Law, Derrold, Pat Bargmann, and several aunts and uncles also survive.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Mr. Leonard Bargmann.

David enjoyed softball, volleyball, and anything to get outdoors. He loved playing softball in Topeka, and "back in the day" they held a big winter game once a year in the snow and ice. He was an avid fan of the Chiefs, Royals, Cardinals, KU Jayhawks, and Kansas State Wildcats. You could always tell who was about to play by which hat he wore.

He traveled to different places while serving in the Navy, such as Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Japan.

He loved kids and helped his wife, Reeta, with a daycare for many years. He formed lasting bonds with the daycare kids and their families. One of his favorite pastimes was attending the kid's sporting events and recitals.

He always put the needs of others in front of his own, had an amazingly positive attitude, made those around him laugh, and understood what was important in life. His kindness and generosity will be missed by many.

Honoring his wishes, David was cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at Felker Park Ballfield.
