David Jeffrey Cope, 60, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019.
He was born July 18, 1958, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William Walter and Lois-jo Ruth (Bartell) Cope. He was a 1976 graduate of Topeka West High School and attended Washburn University and KAW Valley Vocational Technical School.
David was employed by the Wolfe's Camera and Video in Topeka for 28 years. During his time at Wolfe's he received the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Award, from Sales and Marketing Executives International. He retired in 2013 due to illness.
David married Karen Southall on June 13, 1987 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two children, Justin D. Cope and Kacie N. Cope, both of Topeka; a grandson, Maxson Rolfe Mandel; his brother, Rodney Cope, Omaha, NE; and his sister, Cheryl Svetgoff, Oklahoma City, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Steven Cope.
David was a talented musician who enjoyed photography, traveling and hiking.
Cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
