David Douglas

David Wayne Douglas, Jr., 22, known to his friends as (DJ) of Topeka, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, August 4, 2010.
He was born March 22, 1988 in Topeka the son of David Douglas, Sr. and Mincoya (Murray) Reed.
David attended Topeka Public Schools and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 2006. While in High School he was a drummer in the marching band. He was attending Allen County Community College working towards a degree in secondary education.
David was currently employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
He was a member of Faith Family Center. He was active in various ministries through the church and within the community. He enjoyed sharing his love of the Lord with everyone he met. He used these encounters to share and encourage others in building their faith.
David was a prolific gospel writer penning many books, poems, and other writings.
He was a very special loving and giving young man and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was considered "An Angel Among Us".
He is survived by his father David Douglas, Sr., his mother, Mincoya (Murray) Reed; his brother, Tyrell Reed, Sr.; his sister, Amanda Douglas; his maternal grandmother, Margaret Moore and her husband Willie James Moore. David was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Barbara Douglas and his Aunt, Tory Douglas Tyler. He is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a host of family and friends.
David will lie in state after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening. A Home Going Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday August 11, 2010 at El Shaddai Ministries. Cremation will follow the ceremony. Memorials, cards and flowers in his memory may be left at the funeral home.
