David Evans

David "Duane" Evans, 79, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017.

He was born February 22, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Claude and Mary Ellen (Williams) Evans.

Duane was a graduate of Osage City High School and veteran of the United States Army. He worked as an auditor for 43 years at Santa Fe Railway and was a member of American Legion Post 400.

Duane enjoyed coaching his son's baseball teams, dancing, bowling, and watching K-State football. He loved to watch his granddaughters play softball and grandsons play baseball. Duane was also a volunteer with the CAT Association of Topeka for 26 years.

On September 14, 1963, in Osage City, Duane married Janice K. Stonequist. She survives.

Other survivors include sons, Mark, Stephen, and Kent Evans; grandchildren, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Kaden, and Braden Evans; and brother, Owen Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Janice Yoder.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66606. Memorial contributions may be made to CAT Association of Topeka, 1719 SW Gage Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
