David L. Johnson

David Leon Johnson passed away on March 21, 2018 at the age of 80. David was born January 17, 1938 in Butler County, KY to Casey and Ruby (Painter) Johnson.
At the age of 17 he joined the Air Force and was eventually stationed in Topeka KS, where he met and married Sharran K. Covey on April 19, 1960. They were married 57 years before she preceded him in death in 2017.
He is survived by their children, Scott Johnson (Jenny), Mitchell Johnson (Janet), Heidi Johnson Benortham, Kristi Michaelson (Rick); 7 grandchildren: Ashley, Amanda (Rusty), Elijah, Alta, Sierra, Brynn and Makynna; 3 great grandchildren: Emmy, Kennedie and Sydnie; and his siblings: Nina West, Dale Johnson, and Gail Barks.
He was preceded in death by siblings Carl K. Johnson and Alice Baker.
He spent his life driving a truck over the road and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He retired from Dolly Madison in 2002. He spent his time with his family and enjoyed feeding the squirrels.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
