David K. Haney, 70, Topeka, passed away Feb. 11, 2011 at his home. He was born in Newton, Kansas on April 18, 1940 to David N. and Evelyn G. (Goldsmith) Haney. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961.
David married Carol Ann Rolfe on Sept. 3, 1961 in Nortonville, Kansas. He was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a machinist for 40 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 400, NRA and a former member of the Moose Lodge and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He enjoyed golf and bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; one daughter, Cheryl (Bob) McPherson, Berryton, Kansas; one grandson, Ethan and one granddaughter, Emily; a sister, Priscilla (Bruce) Smith, Harper, Kansas; 5 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; 13 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests and celebrate David's life on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Inurnment will be in Olive Hill Cemetery, Soldier, Kansas at a later date.
