David L. Hawley, 81, of Auburn, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 21, 1934 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, the son of James E. and Mildred D. (Conrad) Hawley.
He was a graduate of Gloucester High School and later graduated with a bachelor's degree at Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
David was employed by the US Postal Service in Topeka retiring in 1989.
He was a member of American Legion, Post No. 400.
David married Hermina Perschbacher on January 3, 1983 in Miami, Ok. She survives. Other survivors include two children, David Hawley II, Valley Falls, KS and Daneva Coker, Topeka; step-daughter, Carol (Ben) Marple, Wakarusa, KS; a step-son, Michael (Janet) Dawson, Topeka; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jacqueline Brockelbank, Massachusetts; and several nieces and a nephew.
Honoring his request, David was cremated. A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Mt. Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka.
The family will receive friends following the service until 3 p.m. at the Mt. Hope Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Auburn Community Center, P.O. Box 205, Auburn, KS 66402.
