David Michael McShane of Topeka passed away on April 13, 2011. He was the son of Barbara(Lewis) & Stephen McShane of Uncasville, CT. David was born February 15, 1967 in Tripoli Libya. He lived in Glyfada, Greece until he was two years old, and then grew up in Uncasville and Metarie, Louisiana. David graduated in 1985 from St. Bernard's High School in Uncasville, and earned degrees from Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, CT and the University of Connecticut.
David was married on June 25, 1995 and four years later, the love of his life, daughter Brighton, was born. Her yearly visits to Topeka were always filled with fun and excitement for them both. They enjoyed driving go-carts, eating cheese fries at Sonic Burger, visiting the zoo and just hanging out together.
David had been employed at the Department of Veterans' Affairs in Topeka for the past six years. Prior to that, he was a Delivery Supervisor with the U. S. Postal Service in Connecticut. In addition, he served as a police officer in Old Lyme, CT as well as on the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Police Department in Ledyard, CT. He was also employed as Security Supervisor at the Crystal Mall in Waterford, CT.
In addition to his parents and daughter, David is survived by his brothers, Eric and Matthew and his sister, Catherine, all of CT. He is also survived by his nephews, Ryan and Tyler, and a niece, Audrey, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service and visitation will be held at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 6-8pm.
A graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Mausoleum in Norwich, CT on Monday, April 25, 2011.
